The Artwork

Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg’s living artwork for pollinating insects marks an urgent shift away from human-centred thinking.

The LAS Edition of Pollinator Pathmaker is a living sculpture of more than 7,000 plants, planted over a 722-square-metre plot in front of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. It is designed to meet pollinators’ needs rather than human taste, using a custom-built algorithm. Ongoing research demonstrates the artwork’s measurable benefit for biodiversity and human-nature relationships.

The Initiative

The LAS Edition is part of a growing network of artworks for pollinators across Berlin.

You can support pollinators by planting your own Edition of the artwork. Communities, schools, and residents across Berlin have become part of the project by planting DIY Editions in their neighbourhoods, bringing Pollinator Pathmaker into almost all 12 districts of the city. Together, these artworks grow a network of forage for insects.
